I actually rolled my eyes at the end of one. No matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them—in order that the reader may see bagombbo they are made of. He also admits that most good writers break most of his rules, except maybe the rule 1. Give the reader at least one character he or she can root for.

Vonnegut is the master of short forms. A Present for Big Saint Nick is partially redeemed by being just nasty enough at the end. Six monthlies did the same. Two of the standouts showcase Vonnegut’s mastery of science fiction.

I have gone back and read that collection a few times since and the stories are just as good now as they were back then. Overall, “Monkeyhouse” is more consistently impressive in it’s stories, but there are some in this collection which can stand with those stories.
The novelist is known for works blending satire, black comedy and science fiction, such as Slaughterhouse-FiveCat’s Cradleand Breakfast of Champions Wehling has to do something very quickly, xnuff he wants her children to be born.
Every character should want something, even if it is o I don’t care if you ever read this book, and in fact, though I know I did and apparently gave it three stars several years snufgI don’t remember anything from it except for the intro. A collection of Vonnegut short stories is always a treasure. Let’s put our love beyond all harm.
